10 Year-Old Girl Grabbed by Unidentified Suspect While Walking to School, Authorities Say

Westbury, NY - June 22, 2017 - Third Squad detectives are investigating an incident that occurred on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 9:15 am in Westbury.
 
According to detectives, while at the corner of Grand Street & Winthrop Avenue, walking to the Drexel Avenue Elementary School, a female 5th grade student (age 10), was approached from behind by an unknown male white in his 30’s who grabbed the victims arm. The 5th grader was able to break free from the subject, ran and hid from him until he fled the scene. The uninjured victim then ran to school and reported the incident.
 
The subject, who never stated a word to the victim, was further described as being heavy set, wearing an orange t-shirt, shorts and work boots. He was last seen heading eastbound on Winthrop Avenue towards Post Avenue.
