A retired teacher from St. John the Baptist Diocesan School High School in West Islip has been arrested for possessing child pornography. 64-year old Thomas Bouklas of Holbrook was found to be downloading and storing child pornography on his hard drive at home, when the police seized his computer, drives and other material. Bouklas, though retired, was still the assistant coach of the girls’ soccer team, but had been suspended pending the results of the investigation.

Bouklas is currently being charged with possession of a sexual performance by a child though a court date has yet to be set. "We believe this is a mistake and a misunderstanding," said Arshad Majid, Bouklas’ lawyer.

Suffolk police stated that Bouklas "was downloading and possessing child pornography via the Internet.” Suffolk County’s Computer Crimes division have been examining Bouklas’ hard drives and other digital material though they have yet to reveal just how much they’ve found.

Back in 2003, when Bouklas retired, he was quoted as saying he wanted to do so “quietly” and “not make a big deal out of it.” A coaching career than spanned over three decades, Bouklas’ teams were successful, winning 18 Catholic League titles and taking home two New York State Catholic League championships. "Just the ability to coach kids at this age is fun," Bouklas told Newsday in 2003. "It's the chance to get them at the developmental stage."
