NCPD "Shot Spotter" Alert Leads to Arrest of Two Roosevelt Men on Weapons, Endangerment Charges

The First Squad reports the arrests of two Roosevelt men for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 2:12 am in Roosevelt.
 
According to Detectives, First Precinct Officers responded to a Shot Spotter activation on Hudson Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers observed a grey Nissan Armada leaving from the vicinity of the Shot Spotter location. Officers followed the vehicle and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop in front of 203 Carolina Avenue in Hempstead.
 
After a thorough investigation Matthew Chery, 19, of 23 Gusto Lane and Jahsire May, 19, of 32 Catlin Avenue were placed into police custody without incident. A silver handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
 
The defendants are each charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree and Conspiracy 4th Degree. 
 
They were arraigned on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
