Officials: Port Chester Man in Custody After Driving Drunk with 3 Year-Old Child in Vehicle

The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Port Chester man for DWI – Leandra’s Law in Elmont.
 
According to Police, Segundo Tenecela, 46, of Port Chester, New York, struck a vehicle stopped at a traffic light. The defendant was traveling eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike and struck the rear of a vehicle stopped at Meacham Avenue. Officers responded to the accident.
 
A subsequent investigation was conducted and Tenecela was placed under arrest without incident. The vehicle’s passengers included a three year old child. The child was released into the custody of parents. 
 
Defendant Tenecela is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) under the Leandra Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 3rd Degree and multiple traffic infractions. He was arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
