Brookhaven Councilwoman Bonner Joins Coastal Steward Long Island at Cedar Beach Cleanup

Recently, Councilwoman Jane Bonner joined members of Coastal Steward Long Island to cleanup Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai. Coastal Steward Long Island’s mission is to restore and preserve Long Island’s coastlines through education, public awareness and community action. During the cleanup, more than 30 volunteers picked up over 1,000 pounds of garbage and debris. Coastal Steward Long Island has partnered with the Town on many programs that help protect our shoreline and preserve our marine environment.
 
Coastal Steward Long Island has teamed up with the Town of Brookhaven for programs to educate youth and local community groups in coastal environmental awareness through beach cleanups, shellfish population restoration, and citizen science. They foster a caring connection between Long Island residents and their shoreline, and create future generations of coastal stewards.
