Job fairs and customized recruitment services can be tailored to a specific business to assist in their hiring needs. Department of Labor Business Services team members will help a business review applicants, set up and schedule events and match candidates based on skills and applicable hiring and training incentives.

These are just some of the many no-cost services provided to any business in New York State. Businesses may also take advantage of Jobs Express, Governor Cuomo’s online jobs database, which currently lists 92,000 available positions. By using these services, an average business in New York State could save tens of thousands of dollars each year.

Estimated Savings:

  • Save up to $12,000 on a staff-assisted recruitment event
  • Save up to $20,000 on a customized job fair
  • Save up to $6,000 per year on job postings

“Smart business leaders know they have to watch every penny and get the most value for their time,” said State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera. “Using the Department of Labor as a one-stop resource is time well-spent and it doesn’t cost businesses a dime.”

A Business Services team member will help a business find a location to hold the recruitment, set an agenda to ensure the time is used efficiently, advertise and market the event, identify the most qualified applicants to narrow the candidate pool, provide staffing and other support services and more. Events can be held at a worksite, an off-site location or in one of the 96 New York State Career Centers. This gives a business the flexibility to design an event that meets its unique needs.
