The behemoth online retailer is gobbling up warehouses across Long Island, usually for their last-mile delivery sites to help them deliver same or next day delivery of products. According to a story in The Real Deal, Amazon has taken a 10-year lease on the 246,000 sq ft warehouse in Melville on Ruland Road. The property is owned by Hartz Mountain Industries Inc.

Hartz lists the building they developed for the property as a state-of-the-art e-commerce center building that includes solar panels on the roof and will be LEED certified. Another property on the site is still under development.

As of yet, Amazon is mum on its plans for the building, whether it will be a distribution center or something else.

Hartz acquired the 48.5-acre property in 2018 for $54.5 million, according to The Real Deal.
