Pedestrian Killed Crossing Sunrise Highway in Oakdale, According to Officials

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Oakdale today.
 
An adult male was crossing eastbound Sunrise Highway, near Connetquot Avenue, when he was struck in the left lane by a 2017 Audi at 12:07 p.m. The man, who has yet to be identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Audi, Rose Baltazar, 23, of Bay Shore, was alone in her vehicle and not injured.
 
It is under investigation why the man was crossing the road. The Audi was impounded for a safety check.
