SCPD are investigating a vehicle crash that killed a man in North Babylon.

North Babylon, NY - July 6, 2018 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in North Babylon on Thursday, July 5, 2018.
 
The driver of a 1998 Saturn sedan was traveling on westbound Sunrise Highway, near exit 39, when a tire struck his vehicle at approximately 2:15 p.m. The tire then struck a 2000 Chevrolet SUV driven by Mary DiFranco, 61, of Lindenhurst.
 
The driver of the Saturn, whose identification is being withheld pending notification to next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
 
DiFranco and her passenger, Irene Sciane, 61, of Lindenhurst, were not injured.
 
The vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
