Rex Heuermann, the Massapequa Park resident accused of carrying out the infamous Gilgo Beach serial killings, Appeared in court on Wednesday for the first time since February so that his defense could receive more discovery from prosecutors.

The discovery in question reportedly includes at least 15 pieces of evidence procured from properties Heuermann owns. Judge Timothy Mazzie, who is presiding over the case, noted that he wants all discovery turned over before the end of July.

Heuermann, 60, made national headlines when he was arrested on July 13, 2023, as a suspect in the Gilgo Beach case; he was charged the following day by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney in the murders of three of "the Gilgo Four" victims: Amber Lynn Costello, 27, Melissa Barthelemy, 24, and Megan Waterman, 22.

On January 16, DA Tierney unsealed additional charges against Heuermann at the Suffolk County Courthouse in Riverhead, tying him to the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25, a fourth woman whose remains were discovered near Gilgo Beach; Heuermann was already the prime suspect in her death, and the evidence presented on Wednesday by Tierney was reportedly centered on her.

"Just today alone, we provided the Barnes missing persons investigation from the NYPD which is approximately 2,500 pages," said DA Tierney. "We have about a 12-terabyte hard drive with regard to the nuclear DNA. We have digital extractions from a number of the digital devices that were recovered from the defendant's residence."

Heuermann's estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, also attended the hearing on Wednesday.

Heuermann is due back in court on June 18.
