Officials: Drunken Rosedale Woman's Vehicle Bursts into Flames After Crashing into Police Vehicle

Inwood, NY - April 11, 2018 - The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Rosedale woman for DWI on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Inwood.
 
According to Police, a fourth Precinct Officer was conducting a traffic stop in the Mobile parking lot located at 605 Burnside Avenue. At that time, the defendant Marsha T. Ellis, 34, was driving a 2014 Audi, entered the parking lot and struck the rear of the police vehicle. The collision caused the defendants vehicle to become engulfed in flames. Police Officers then pulled the defendant from her vehicle. The Inwood Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. 
 
All vehicles were removed from the scene. The Police Officer suffered neck, back and shoulder pain and was treated at a local hospital. The defendant was subsequently arrested after an investigation. It was determined she was operating while her ability was impaired. She was transported along with another Officer to an area hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation. It was also determined that the defendant was responsible for taking an IPhone from a local store earlier in the day.
 
Defendant Ellis is charged with Grand Larceny 4th degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Assault 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of Marijuana 5th degree and 9 Vehicle and Traffic Law charges. She will be arraigned on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
