Suspect in Robbery and Carjacking Case Shot by Nassau County Police Officer

A Nassau County police officer shot a suspect in a robbery and carjacking case. The incident is still under investigation.

Flower Hill, NY - March 4, 2015 - Update on March 9, 2015: The Public Information Office in conjunction with the Lake Success Police Department reports the following details of the incident described below. 

Police Officer Richard Petrillo, a 14-year veteran of the Lake Success Police Department, fired three shots striking the defendant twice in one leg and once in the torso. The defendant was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He remains in the hospital under federal custody.

The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad is investigating the police involved shooting.  The Major Case Bureau along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation is continuing to investigate this incident.

The Major Case Bureau, in conjunction with the Lake Success Police Department, reports the details of and continues to investigate a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 6:20 pm in Flower Hill.
 
According to detectives a robbery occurred at the T-Mobile store, 1073 Northern Boulevard.
 
The investigation regarding the robbery includes the possibility of a related carjacking which occurred shortly after the incident and took place on Lakeville Road in Lake Success. During an attempt to disrupt the carjacking and apprehend the subject, a Lake Success police officer, who discharged his weapon, wounded the subject and placed him under arrest.
 
The investigation into the above incidents is ongoing.
