LiDL has expanded once again to a new location on Long Island. The food market hosted a grand opening on February 24 for their Selden store.

The Germany-based grocery store chain launched its plans to come to Long Island after acquiring Best Market stores in 2019. Best Market had 24 stores on Long Island. At the time, the company said that it would close the Hicksville location, and remodel two others while converting them all to the Lidl brand. The company has more than 10,000 stores and has its U.S. operations based out of Arlington, Va.

Brookhaven Town Councilman Kevin LaValle was on hand at the grand opening to celebrate and wished them luck.

“I welcome the new LiDL food market to Selden and encourage people to stop by,” Councilman LaValle said in a statement. “They are well known for discount prices and for their community outreach, and I look forward to working with them in the future to benefit the Selden residents."
