Long Island Airbnb’s have made over $95 million in the first three quarters of 2021, according to a recent report released by the company. That number is an increase of 83% over the same period in 2019, before the pandemic restricted travel. In 2019, hosts on Long Island made $52 million during the same timeframe.

“Of the many things we’ve learned during the pandemic, it’s to never underestimate the economic power of tourism,”  said Kelly Fay, Public Policy Manager at Airbnb.

Fay said that Airbnb helps its hosts earn extra income and supports local economies.

“This large growth in total host earnings demonstrates folks’ desire to get away to different destinations across [New York] state, following a long period of staying in place,” she said.

Nationally, Airbnb hosts have earned a total of $150 billion since 2010, including $60 billion in the US.
