New Cassel Homeowner Fires Shots After Walking Into Burglary in Progress

New Cassel, NY - February 16th, 2016 - The Public Information Office reports the details of a Burglary that occurred on Monday February 15, 2016 at 10:37 a.m. in New Cassel.
 
According to police, two male Hispanics knocked on the front door of a 3rd Avenue residence, displaying handguns and forced their way inside. In the house at the time were two adult females, one adult male, and three juveniles. The victims were forced to a second story bedroom where the subjects demanded cash. 
 
A short time later the male homeowner returned to the residence and was confronted by the subjects as he reached the second floor. During the confrontation one subject discharged a single gunshot which lodged into the wall. The subjects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry. 
 
The male homeowner retrieved a semi-automatic rifle and discharged a single gunshot after exiting the home. There were no injuries reported.
 
The first subject is described as 6’0” tall. The second subject is described as 5’0” tall, wearing a dark ski mask. The investigation is ongoing.
