Cortland, NY - February 3rd, 2014 - The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) will kick off its Firefighter Winter Games in Cortland, NY on Friday, February 7. Co-sponsored by the Cortland County Firemen’s Association, more than 300 firefighters from 32 Fire Departments across New York State, dressed in full turnout gear, will participate in a host of events throughout the weekend. The 2014 Games represent the largest field of competitors to date.
Fierce competition will be on display during events such as tube races, sled pull, and the popular Hose Relay. The games allow for Fire Departments to compete against one another while at the same time honing important training skills. For example, the Hose Relay Event is a training ground, teaching firefighters how important it is to work together while fighting a fire.
