If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to live healthier, than you’ll want to mark off the upcoming dates to your calendar to register for swim lessons and land and aquatic exercise classes at the Nassau County Aquatic Center!

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano released registration dates for the Spring 2014 session (beginning Feb. 24) this week in an effort to build on his Fit Nassau initiative for residents to live a healthy lifestyle.

All sessions for swimming and land and aquatic exercise take place at the Nassau County Aquatic Center located at Eisenhower Park on Merrick Avenue in East Meadow. The facility serves the general public as well as competitive swimmers. It has also hosted Olympians, including Michael Phelps.

To take part in the Spring 2014 session, lottery applications for youth swim lessons will be accepted beginning Monday, Feb. 3rd through 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9th. Lottery results are available on Wednesday, Feb. 12th, and you may call for results starting that date at (516) 572-0501. Payment must be made by Feb. 16th for your class spot to be held. Those who do not make payment in time will forfeit their spot for release to the waitlist.

Adult swim lessons and land and aquatic fitness class registration is on a first come, first serve basis and begins on Monday, Feb. 10th, starting at 8 a.m. Should there be any remaining spots, last chance open registration is on Friday, Feb. 21.

 Swim lessons are offered at different levels, including:

  • Infant/Toddlers (6 – 36 months, accompanied by an adult in the water)
  • Swim with Me (ages 3 – 4,  accompanied by an adult in the water)
  • PreschoolLevels 1 – 3 (ages 3 - 5)
  • Levels 1 – 6 (6 and older)
  • Adult Instruction (18 and over)
  • Adapted Aquatic Classes (ages 5 – 8 with parents in water)

Aquatic fitness classes with specific concentrations are offered, including:

  • Adult Fit Swim
  • Aquajog
  • Aquaerobics
  • Teen/Adult Fit Swim (ages 13 and over)
  • Joint Efforts
  • Aqua Zumba

Land exercise classes with specific concentrations are offered including:

  • Senior Power
  • Pilates
  • Spin-lates (Spinning and Pilates)
  • Senior Wake-up and Dance
  • Cardio Kickboxing
  • Tai Chi
  • Healthy Back
  • Intense Body Transformation
  • Spinning
  • Yoga
  • Ultimate Core and Stretch
  • Total Body Express Circuit
  • Yin Yoga
  • Awesome Body Workout
  • Core and Stretch
  • Killer Kettleballs
  • Total Body Conditioning
  • Zumba
  • Big Dave’s Boot Camp
  • Cardio X-Training Circuit
  • Zumba Toning
