AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties... Richmond...Kings...Queens...New York...Bronx...Westchester... Rockland...Nassau...and Suffolk. from 11 AM this morning to 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone . The Air Quality Index...or AQI...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value...the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young...and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Nassau County Police Dept: Freeport Man Arrested

The Freeport Police Department reports the arrest of a male that occurred in Freeport on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 7:20 am.

Freeport, NY - October 17th, 2013 - The Freeport Police Department reports the arrest of a male that occurred in Freeport on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 7:20 am.

According to police, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at approximately 7:30 am defendant Edwin A. Bonilla, 30, no known address, approached a female juvenile on South Main Street and asked the victim for her name and phone number. The defendant grabbed the victim’s hand but she was able to get away.

On Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 6:40 am the defendant put his arm around a female juvenile at the corner of Pine Street and Guy Lombardo Avenue. The victim was able to walk fast and get away.

On Monday, October 7, 2013 at approximately 7:30 am the defendant followed a female juvenile on East Merrick Road and asked her for her name and where she lives as she walked to school.

On Friday, October 11, 2013 at approximately 7:00 am the defendant ran after a female juvenile as she walked to school on Juanita Avenue. The defendant stopped after he saw a school security guard.

On Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at approximately 7:15 am a Freeport Police Officer observed and stopped the defendant following two juvenile females on Pine Street near the Dodd Junior High School that matched a subject wanted in other stalking cases. The defendant was placed into custody without incident. There were no injuries reported.
Edwin A. Bonilla was charged with four counts of Stalking 4th Degree, three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and False Personation. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.
