What a great way to kick off the new year. Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk in Bellport renovated a home for Mariela Calderone and her family this January.

“I was very happy to share this important day with Mariela and her family,” said Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization founded in 1976  to build "simple, decent, and affordable" housing all over the world. The organization works in partnership with thousands of Suffolk County volunteers, to build and renovate homes in communities where people can live and grow like the Calderon family.

“Thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk, their new home is no longer just a dream, but it is now their family home,” added Romaine.
