A new sushi bar by one of the chefs at famed New York City restaurant Nobu called Sushi By Kuryu has opened in Roslyn Heights. The difference is that this sushi place is a shop within a shop, opening as a sushi bar inside Roslyn Seafood Gourmet.

The new sushi bar has a small amount of seating available but the sushi is mostly available for takeout.

According to a review in Newsday, chef Teruo Yoshioka is from Nagoya, Japan, and had previously started a New York City catering service for at-home sushi dining.

On Yelp, Danielle T, from Port Washington, gave it five stars.

“Great, authentic spot in the unassuming Roslyn seafood gourmet,” she said. “When my husband and I heard about this coming, we had to try and tried the opening special. The omakase is solid, especially for takeout - still fresh and really nice pieces. The rice was good and everything was enjoyable.”

Location: 444 Willis Avenue, Roslyn Heights, (646) 283-9811.
