Pedestrian Killed in Dix Hills Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Dix Hills early this morning.

Dix Hills, NY - January 18, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Dix Hills early this morning.

John Capalbo was driving a 2003 Lincoln southbound on Deer Park Avenue when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was attempting to cross from west to east at MacNeice Place at approximately 6:20 a.m.

The pedestrian was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. Capalbo, 54, of Dix Hills, was not injured.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
