Ziegler Farm, 52-Acre Property Overlooking Long Island Sound, Sells for $57.5 Million

Ziegler Farm, A 52 acre property located along the Gold Coast in Connecticut that overlooks the Long Island Sound, has reportedly sold for a whopping $57.5 million, according to Zillow.com.
 
The property, listed by Sotheby's International Realty and located in the town of Darien on Long Neck Point Road, shares its namesake with the founder of the Royal Baking Powder Company, William Ziegler, a business executive, philanthropist, polo player, yachtsman, and a Thoroughbred racehorse owner and breeder. 
 
Ziegler, who passed away in 1958, reportedly originally acquired the property in 1900.
 
Zillow noted that Ziegler Farm, which was sold on Thursday, December 21, was originally listed in 2022 for $85 million and comes with numerous opportunities for upgrades.
 
"Darien's Ziegler Farm is now the Great Island Property Owners Association: An approved sub-division with 14 oversized building lots totaling 34.51 acres, two private paved roads (2.85 acres) with electric, sewer and water lines in place and preserved open space of 13.92 acres located in the heart of Connecticut's Gold Coast," the listing reads.
