Intoxicated Riverhead Woman Found on New Years Eve with Stab Wound to Chest; Police Seeking Suspect in Assault

The Riverhead Police Department is looking into an incident where a woman from a local apartment complex was discovered with a stab wound to her chest on New Year's Eve, with the suspect in the assault currently at large.
 
Officers say that they located the injured woman at River Pointe Apartments on East Main Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 31. The 44-year-old victim appeared to be intoxicated and reportedly refused to cooperate with the officers as they attempted to provide assistance.
 
According to witnesses, a second female who may have been connected to the assault was seen running west on foot from the scene in the direction of East Main Street. However, a thorough search of the area, including the use of canine units did not turn up the suspect.
