Christmas is right around the corner. It’s hard to ignore (not that you’d want to!) with so many houses decorated to the brim with tiny lights, inflatable lawn ornaments, and candy canes lighting the way to everyone’s front doors. Some families take it to the next level with spectacular light shows. Tune into the programmed radio station and watch as lights dance merrily along to holiday-themed music. But what about you? Have you finish putting your decorations up? Did you even buy a tree yet? No!? By gosh, by golly, Christmas is only ten days away! What are you waiting for? Well, don’t you worry because we’ve got you covered. The following farms are still open and looking to help you celebrate the holiday’s festivities.

  1. Hicks Nurseries, 100 Jericho Turnpike, Westbury, NY, 11590 - (516) 334-0066

Hicks Nurseries is one of Long Island oldest nursery and garden centers on Long Island having opened in 1853. Hicks has everything you’ll ever need for the holidays - ornaments and collectables, lighting, poinsettias, life-like trees and pre-cut live trees. Hicks is perfect for family shopping as kids will get to meet and takes photos with Santa on his daily visits, 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm. Don’t miss the real, live reindeer onsite daily.

  1. Dart’s Christmas Tree Farm, 2355 Main Bayview Road, Southold, NY, 11791 - (631) 765-4148

Dart’s Farm is a three-generation family-owned farm. This cut-down-your-own Christmas tree farm gives you a choice of Douglas or Fraser Fir trees. Dart’s Farm will be open daily, 9am-5pm until Christmas Eve. Hand saws will be provided.

Hand-made wreaths, garland and other decorations are sold in the farm’s 18th century barn. Dart’s also offers hayrides around the farm on weekends and from 12pm-4pm Santa and his elves make a stop at the farm to meet with children and families. Hot chocolate and snacks will be available.

Tilden Lane Farm is a family-run farm and will only be open for pre-cut Christmas tree sales on Saturday, December 17th, from 9am to 3pm. They offer a wide selection of trees including Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, Serbian Spruce, White Spruce, Concolor Fir and Douglas Fir. Tilden Lane accepts only cash or checks with a proper I.D.

  1. Santa’s Christmas Tree Farm, 30105 Main Street, Cutchogue, NY, 11935 - (631) 734-8641

Like Dart’s, Santa’s Christmas Tree Farm allows visitors to choose and cut down their own tree. All trees up to 8 feet are $65 and an additional $8 for every extra foot. Their shop is billed as “The Largest Christmas Shop in the Northeast” and holds a variety of Christmas decorations to go along with your tree. The Farm and shop are only daily from 9am-5pm.

Shamrock Christmas Tree Farm offers shoppers the choice of cutting down their own Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, or hybrid balsam tree or purchasing a pre-cut tree. Shamrock is open daily, 9am-5pm. Santa stops in on weekend, noon to 5pm.

Visitors to the farm will also find handmade wreaths, blankets, pillows, and antique sleighs for sale. Free hot chocolate and popcorn is offered for every purchase and train ride around the farm will makes your visit to Shamrock Christmas Tree Farm fun for the entire family.

At Matt and Mike’s Christmas Tree Farm, Christmas carols will drift through the air as you choose from over 10,000 trees to cut down with your own hands if you’d like, ranging from tiny 2-foot tall table toppers to extravagant 14-footers. Their selection of trees includes Norway, Blue and White Spruce, and Balasm, Concolor and Douglas Fir. Everything you need is provided for you! Saws, netting and trailer rides back from the fields. The Farm is open every day, 8am-4:30pm until Christmas Eve.

Lewin Farm is another cut your own Christmas tree farm with over 100-acres of trees, 4-foot to 12-foot, to choose from. Pre-cut trees are also available for purchase. It is open daily from 9am-4pm until December 18th. They suggest arriving at the farm early and leaving the field before 3:30pm as the fields are not lit and it gets dark very quickly.

Unlike most Christmas Tree Farms on Long Island, Elwood Christmas Tree Farm is located in western Suffolk County, ideal for those who aren’t thrilled about the long car ride to the eastern end of the island. This 20-acre farm offers a variety of trees in a variety of sizes including Fraser and Douglas Fir, Norway and Blue Spruce, and White Pine. If you’re looking to cut your own trees  hours are 3pm to dark on weekdays and 10am to dark on weekends. The pre-cut tree lot is open until 8pm.

Brightwaters Farms offers pre-cut trees and is open daily until Christmas Eve, 10:30am to 9:3pm, Sunday through Thursday, and 10:30am to 10:30pm, Saturday and Friday. Holiday Light Shows and hayrides are offered for kids and families to enjoy.

Zuhoski Farm is a multi-generational family-run farm where you can cut down the trees of your choosing with your saws or theirs. They have a wealth of Douglas Fir and Blue Spruce trees and are happy to help you move the tree from the field back to your car with a tractor-pulled hayride. Free hot chocolate and snacks are available for you families enjoyment around a warm fire to keep cozy in the chilly weather. Other Christmas decorations are available at the farm which will open Saturday, December 17th, and Sunday, December 18th, 9am until dusk.
