Brave Oceanside Resident Fights Off Robbers, Thwarts Bike Theft Attempt

Police responded to a 911 call for a robbery that had occurred in the vicinity of 65 Atlantic Avenue

The Fourth Squad is investigating an Attempted Robbery that occurred in Oceanside on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 1:00 am.
 
According to detectives, Fourth Precinct police responded to a 911 call for a robbery that had occurred in the vicinity of 65 Atlantic Avenue. An investigation revealed a 44-year-old male was walking his electric bike in front of 711 located at 65 Atlantic Avenue when two unknown male subjects exited out a dark colored Honda Pilot and approached the victim. Both subjects demanded that the victim hand over his bike. After the victim refused, the subjects began punching the victim repeatedly causing him to fall. The two subjects then fled the scene in their vehicle east on Atlantic Avenue without the bicycle.
 
There was no other property taken. The victim’s bicycle handlebars were damaged along with his cell phone during the incident. The victim suffered a laceration to his leg and abrasions to his knees and hands. A Nassau County Police Ambulance transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.
 
Subject one is described as being male, black, thin build, 5’10” tall and wearing dark clothing. Subject two is described as being male, black, thin build, 5’8” tall, and wearing dark clothing.
