Tragedy Strikes in Copiague: Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Late-Night Crash, Police Seek Witnesses

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Copiague last night.
 
An adult male was walking southbound across Eastbound Sunrise Highway, at 35th Street, when he was struck by an eastbound 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, at 11:57 p.m.
 
The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by an EMT with Copiague Fire Department. The driver of the Jeep, Jake M., 19, of  Massapequa, was not injured.
 
The Jeep was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
