Nassau Authorities Investigating Fatal Baldwin Auto Accident Involving Pedestrian

A 55 year-old male was struck while attempting to cross Grand Ave. at Sunrise Highway, cops say.

Homicide Squad Detectives are investigating a fatal auto accident involving a pedestrian that occurred in Baldwin.
 
According to detectives, while attempting to cross Grand Ave. at Sunrise Highway, a 55 year old male was struck by a 2015 Mazda that was traveling northbound. As a result of the collision, the male suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a staff physician.
 
The driver, a 27 year old male, remained at the scene and was not injured.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.  
 
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
