Failed Assassination Attempt: Ukraine Accused of Drone Strike on Putin's Life

Russia accuses Ukraine of attempting to assassinate President Vladimir Putin with drones, but Ukraine denies involvement.

According to pubished news reports, on Wednesday, Russia alleged that Ukraine had carried out a drone strike aimed at assassinating President Vladimir Putin, which ultimately failed. According to Dmitry S. Peskov, Putin's spokesperson, state security services managed to disable both drones, and Putin himself was unharmed as he was not in the Kremlin at the time. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.
 
However, a senior Ukrainian presidential official denied the accusations, stating that Kyiv was not involved and had no information regarding the alleged attack. Serhiy Nykyforov, the spokesperson, suggested that the allegations were an attempt to escalate tensions ahead of Russia's celebration of World War II Victory Day on May 9.
 
In response to the incident, the Kremlin issued a statement characterizing the drone strike as a premeditated terrorist attack and a direct attempt on the president's life. The statement further asserted that Russia has the right to retaliate.
