Hello fellow L.I. Lax fans. The spring season is only a month or so away and it is time to prepare for it. Preparation is one of the keys to success. Not only do you have to make sure that your equipment and other gear are ready, but you also have to prepare mentally. The spring season is long and tiring. There are many plays and situations to learn. They consist of both offensive and defensive sets, as well as the transition game. Not to mention, all of the scrimmages and games. In order to plan accordingly, you first have to get outside and condition your body before the first practice. Start out slow and build a solid base. If you want, review the archived articles located at the bottom of this page to get you on track. It is critical that you give a strong first impression for your coach to see. Then, you need to look at the schedule to see when the most important games are to be played. This will help you get pumped up mentally and allow you envision what might happen. This doesn't mean that every game is not important, but there are always the rivalry games between Ward Melville and Sachem, or Garden City and Manhasset. Finally, you have to be confident and positive everyday you are playing. Believe in yourself and your teammates. Try not to get down and NEVER yell negative comments at or to your teammates. Play hard, give it your best effort, and don't ever give up on a grounder, check, shoot, or anything else! Good luck to all this upcoming season and please email me at info@learnlax.com if you have any questions. Thank you for your time.
