The First Squad Detectives report the arrest of two men for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 5:49 pm in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, officers observed a 2023 Nissan Altima traveling on Southern Parkway. The vehicle failed to obey two stop signs on Southern Parkway at Davis Avenue and Southern Parkway at Northern Parkway. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop at the intersection of Nassau Road and Stanton Boulevard.
 
During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded, defaced Ruger SR40C .40 caliber firearm. Defendant Jaevin M. Velasquez, 21, of 587 Southern Parkway, Uniondale and Jhavree C. Mcbride, 25, of 145 Terrace Avenue, Apt A14, Hempstead, were placed into custody without incident.
 
Defendant Velasquez is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2 nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3 rd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 3 rd Degree and multiple traffic infractions. Defendant Jhavree C. Mcbride is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2 nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3 rd Degree. Both defendants will be arraigned on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
