Massapequa Woman Charged with DWI and Assault after Crashing into Farmingdale Store, Injuring Customer

Lauren Potter, 39, faces DWI and assault charges after her vehicle hit a Farmingdale store, injuring a customer and causing property damage.

The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Massapequa woman for DWI that occurred on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 9:35 pm in Farmingdale.
 
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call for a vehicle striking the building at Great Wall Kitchen located at 47 Boundary Avenue. A 2011 Mercedes Benz was traveling northbound on N. Broadway, left the road and collided with a parked 2018 Toyota. The unoccupied Toyota then went through the store front and the Mercedes Benz followed.
 
It was determined the female, 39, was operating the Mercedes Benz under the influence of alcohol. A female customer, 51, suffered a laceration to her right hand. The operator, defendant Lauren Potter, 39, suffered an injury to her ankle and complained of chest pain.
 
Both were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. Defendant Lauren Potter is charged with DWI and Assault 3 rd Degree. She will be arraigned when medically practical.
