Mastic Beach, NY - November 25th, 2014 - The William Floyd School District was recently recognized and honored by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone for receiving the Shanti Fund’s “Best Presentation Award” for hosting a plethora of activities during the district’s fifth annual Unity Week, a celebration of unity, peace and diversity.

This is the second consecutive year that the William Floyd School District received this award. William Floyd High School students Ryan Taphouse, Michaela Surrey and Karen Benitez, who spearheaded “Unity Night” at William Floyd High School for the district’s kindergarten- through eighth-grade students complete with interactive activities, games, a choir performance, face painting and more, made a presentation highlighting the district’s activities.

For their efforts, the three students received certificates of achievement from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone for “promoting peace and enlightenment through education.”
