Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Babylon on Tuesday, July 1.
Victor Hansen was operating a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck on Tappan Avenue when he was turning his vehicle onto the eastbound lanes on West Main Street and struck a motorcyclist operating a 2003 Suzuki that was traveling westbound at 3:08 p.m.
The driver of the Suzuki, Robert Buerkle, 17, of West Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. Hansen, 84, of Babylon was not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
