The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a coastal Flood Advisory...which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 2 am EDT Saturday. * Locations...along western Long Island Sound. * Tidal departures...around 1 feet above astronomical tide heights. * Timing...around the times of high tide between 10 PM and 2 am tonight. * Impacts...minor flooding of the most vulnerable shore roads and/or properties due to height of storm tide or wave splashover. Majority of roads remain passable with only isolated closures. There is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash in Selden

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Selden today.

Selden, NY - June 8th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Selden today.

Shuming Fan was driving a 2006 Ford van eastbound on Route 25 when his vehicle struck a pedestrian approximately 75 feet west of Bicycle Path at 11:05 a.m.

The pedestrian, Sean Slatterly, 56, of Smithtown, was transported by Selden Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Fan, 46, of Flushing, was not injured.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
