The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow...which is in effect until 7 PM EST this evening. The Blizzard Warning has been cancelled. * Locations...Suffolk County in southeast New York...and New Haven...Middlesex and New London counties in southeast Connecticut. * Hazard types...periods of snow and blowing snow. * Accumulations...additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with total accumulations of 20 to 30 inches...with locally higher amounts. * Winds...north 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * Visibilities...one mile or less at times. * Temperatures...in the lower 20s. * Timing...this afternoon into this evening. * Impacts...dangerous travel conditions continue due to snow... blowing snow and gusty winds. Some roads may be impassable. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities will lead to whiteout conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must travel... have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded...stay with your vehicle. A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. A lot of Long Islanders love to go to concerts. A popular place to go would be the Nikon at Jones Beach or Madison Square Gardens. As fun as concerts at these venues are, these types of concerts can be very expensive. Luckily, Long Island has many free concerts that are taking place on the island.

From old to new, from professional to amateur, from originals to cover artists, there are a lot of bands and artists who want to share their talents with Long Islanders for free!

From Nassau County, Suffolk County, and even libraries nowadays offer free concerts to Long Islanders. There are many concerts taking place over the summer, so be sure to check them out!
