June is the month that officially marks the beginning of the sizzling summer season and with it comes not only some fun in the sun but tons of fun-filled family events and celebrations.

With the school year coming to a close, many students will be taking on the next step in their lives as they graduate from high school and enjoy a last “hurrah” by attending prom before beginning summer vacation. Other students will be taking on the real world as they graduate from college.

Let’s also not forget about Dad this Father’s Day and be sure to show him how much you love, care and appreciate him for all the things he does for you and the family. From brunches to simple gift ideas, there’s something for everyone to do with Dad.

With high school and college graduations, weddings and Father’s Day, there are many great ways to celebrate the warm weather along with all the happy celebrations.

As those hot summer days head our way, pools are beginning to be opened as well as public pools for the season. From taking a boat ride on the Long Island Sound to soaking up some sun, it is important to remember sun safety to protect our skin for those UV rays as well as remembering boat safety.

Whether you’re looking to take a deep dive into summer, spend more time with Dad or simply take a rest with the family this month, we’ve got you covered with all the highlights here with LongIsland.com’s 2014 June Entertainment Guide packed with the hottest happenings the whole family can enjoy!
