NCPD: Roosevelt Man Busted on Weapons Charges After Fleeing from Traffic Stop

NCPD reports the arrest of Cameron Morgan of Roosevelt, 19, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Roosevelt, NY - December 28, 2018 - First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Roosevelt man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 5:50 pm in Roosevelt.
 
According to detectives, officers observed a black 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse westbound on E. Pennywood Avenue in the vicinity of Nassau Road. The vehicle failed to maintain a lane.  Officers activated their emergency lights and attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law Stop. The vehicle refused to stop and continued westbound. A short time later, officers observed objects being thrown from the Mitsubishi on Debevoise Avenue. The vehicle struck a telephone pole and came to a stop. The operator, Cameron Morgan, 19, was placed under arrest.
 
During the investigation, it was determined a handgun was thrown from the defendant’s vehicle.
 
Two passengers were transport to an area hospital for medical treatment.
 
Defendant Morgan is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Tampering with Physical Evidence and multiple Traffic Infractions. He will be arraigned on Friday, December 28, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
