AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the following counties... Suffolk...Nassau...Richmond...Kings...Queens...New York...Bronx...Wes chester...Rockland. from 11 AM this morning to 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone . The Air Quality Index...or AQI...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value...the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young...and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. Cedarhurst, NY - November 2, 2018 - Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a vehicular accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 5:30 pm in Cedarhurst.
 
According to detectives, after stepping out of Wok Tov, 594 Central Avenue and onto the sidewalk in front of that business, the victim, a 54 year old male, was struck by a green electric motorized scooter that was being operated by a male white driver and accompanied by a male white rear seat passenger. After the collision both driver and passenger, who fell off the scooter, walked away without identifying themselves.
 
The victim, who suffered a serious leg injury, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He further described the driver as being 15-17 years old and the passenger as being 10-13 years old. Both were wearing white shirts, black pants and yarmulkes on their heads.
 
Detectives request anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
