Melville, NY - October 27th, 2014 - On October 14, members of 100 Women Who Care voted to award this meeting’s member donations checks to Senior Dreams Come True.

Senior Dreams Come True benefits low-income seniors on Long Island by granting wishes – from helping a senior meet basic needs to fulfilling a lifelong dream.  Senior Dreams Come True is proud to have granted such wishes as:

  • Funding transportation to bring families together
  • Home improvements and repairs
  • Home modifications such as wheelchair accessibility and chair lifts
  • Assistance with medical expenses such as much needed dental work

Many Long Island seniors with limited income are finding that life is more of a challenge when even a simple need or wish, which most of us take for granted, cannot be fulfilled.

Charter member, Melissa Negrin-Wiener shared her thoughts on why this charity needed to receive their donation:

"Senior Dreams Come True is so grateful to be in receipt of this generous donation.  We are thrilled that we will be able to help so many more Long Island seniors in need.  We would like to thank the members of 100 Women Who Care About Long Island for seeing what a huge need there is to assist seniors on a local level."

Please attend the 100 WWCLI January 13, 2015 meeting to learn how this charity helped a local senior.

About 100 Women Who Care about Long Island
100 Women Who Care about Long Island is a philanthropic group formed for local women who are interested in supporting their communities by contributing to Long Island charities together as a group to increase the donation impact.

All of their members/teams make a pledge to 100 Women Who Care about Long Island to make an annual donation of $400.  This equates to their writing a $100 check made payable to the winning charity, even if they are not in attendance, at each of their quarterly meetings.

As individuals it is difficult to make a very large impact, but as a group 100 Women Who Care about Long Island have the ability to contribute to the growth of their communities in ways that they never before thought possible.  The size of their quarterly donations is limited only by the members  they have!
