NCPD: Motorcyclist Dies in Collision with Motor Vehicle in Hempstead

NCPD are investigating a serious accident involving a motorcycle in Hempstead.

Hempstead, NY - October 9, 2018 - The Third Squad is investigating a serious vehicular accident involving a motorcycle that occurred in Hempstead on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:59 am.
 
According to detectives, a male motorcyclist identified as Osrick Powell, 31, of Hollis, Queens was operating a 2016 Suzuki at an excessive speed south on North Franklin Street. A 29 year old male driving a 2015 Dodge travelling north and attempting to turn left on to Smith Street was struck by the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was crushed between the bike and the driver’s side of the auto. 
 
The cyclist suffered internal injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The motorcyclist was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff at 12:49 pm. No injuries were reported to the driver of the auto. Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety tests. The investigation is ongoing.
