North Shore Animal League America’s Emergency Rescue Team is returning from Marshall, Texas with more than fifty dogs, puppies, and kittens rescued in collaboration with shelter partners we are continuing to support during the Gulf Coast’s ongoing recovery from Hurricane Ida. Our team will be arriving in Port Washington on Friday, October 1st at 11am (estimated time of arrival.)

The team is returning after, once again, dropping off animal and cleaning supplies donated by our community, as well as supplies shared by LI Cares, to our Shreveport-based shelter partner Paws4Life who will work to distribute these goods locally.

The animals arriving Friday were waiting to be adopted prior to the storm and were moved to make room for animals displaced by the storm.

North Shore Animal League America, who pioneered the nation’s first humane relocation program, began working with groups in this region during Hurricane Katrina and has continued ever since.
