Legislator Steve Stern Honors Dix Hills Firefighter Fred Reithel

Fred Reithel Honored for 50 Years of Continuous Service to Our Community

Huntington, NY - September 17, 2013 - Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD presented a proclamation to Fred Reithel of the Dix Hills Fire Department at the September General Session of the Legislature, honoring his 50 years of continuous service to the Department and to our community. 
Fred Reithel has served the department with dedication and commitment in many capacities, serving as a lieutenant for 14 years, chief from 1974 to 1975 and as fire commissioner for 11 years. At 92 years young, he continues to serve and wear the uniform with pride. 
“It is my honor to recognize Mr. Reithel’s service to so many over such a long period of time. It is a testament to his character and to his devotion to our community,” Legislator Stern said
