The National Weather Service in New York NY has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 3 PM EST this afternoon. The Coastal Flood Warning has been cancelled. * LOCATIONS...Southwestern Suffolk. * TIMING...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 3 PM EST this afternoon. For the Coastal Flood Watch, from Monday morning through Monday afternoon. * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level is possible in low lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways with the high tide cycle today, and up to 2 feet of inundation is likely with the high tide cycle during the day on Monday. * SHORELINE IMPACTS...The combination of elevated water levels and high surf along the ocean beachfront should also result in significant beach erosion and localized splashovers around the times of high tide.

Legislator Anker Attends Annual Senior Citizens Picnic

Ridge, NY, June 2013 –Legislator Sarah Anker recently attended Town of Brookhaven’s Annual Senior Citizens Picnic and Barbecue on Thursday, June 20. The picnic offered a great opportunity for constituents to learn about senior services and meet elected officials. Over 900 seniors attend the event held at the Longwood Estate in Ridge.

“The picnic is a wonderful opportunity to meet with constituents and listen to their concerns,” said Legislator Anker. “I will continue to work with our senior residents to ensure that they are receiving the best quality of life possible.”  

Brookhaven Town’s Division of Senior Services provides information and assistance with social events, transportation, home repair, and volunteer opportunities for Brookhaven’s seniors.
