The Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program is gearing up to hold is annual bowling to fight breast cancer benefit.

While there are many golf benefits, the fourth annual Bowling Benefit for the Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program is slated for Saturday, Nov. 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at San-Dee Lanes, 342 Hempstead Ave. in Malverne.

West Babylon resident Jean Rettura, a breast cancer survivor and volunteer with the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program, started and is sponsoring the event. Rettura, a 34-year survivor, has been a volunteer with the Adelphi program for 27 years.

“She decided that since she loves to bowl, an annual bowling fundraiser would be a fun way to give back and contribute to the breast cancer program,” according to the group.

“I'm so proud to be a part of this wonderful organization which has helped countless men and women in dealing with breast cancer,” Returra said in a written statement. “This event keeps growing in popularity.”

She said this bowling fundraiser is a chance for people to enjoy themselves, while raising money for a good cause.

“What I love most about it is the camaraderie among all the participants,” Returra added. “I hope to keep the ball rolling for many years to come.”

The fee of $30 per person includes three hours of bowling, bowling shoes and refreshments. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction.
