SCPD: Two Dead After Vehicle Loses Control, Crashes Into Commack Gas Station

SCPD are investigating a vehicle crash that killed two in Commack.

Commack, NY - Sept. 12, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed two people in Commack on Wednesday, September 12.
 
Hector Sanchez Jr of Brentwood, 27, was driving a 2013 Audi westbound on Jericho Turnpike just past the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a gas pump at Sunoco gas station, located at 2211 Jericho Turnpike at approximately 2:10 a.m. The vehicle caught fire.
 
Both Sanchez and passenger Shawn Jenkins Jr of Bay Shore, 24, were pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
