NCPD: 3 Arrested for Criminal Possession of a Firearm During Bellerose Terrace Traffic Stop

During the traffic stop, detectives say that they observed a black Smith and Wesson 9mm firearm inside the vehicle.

The Third Squad reports the arrest of three (3) individuals for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 3:50 am in Bellerose Terrace.
 
According to detectives, police observed a 2021 blue Kia K5 with five occupants, swerving in and out of lanes and failing to maintain control while traveling westbound on Jericho Turnpike. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop near the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Commonwealth Boulevard. Detectives observed a black Smith and Wesson 9mm firearm inside the vehicle. 
 
While officers attempted to place the suspects under arrest, four of the defendants fled the scene on foot, eastbound on Jericho Turnpike. The driver, Defendant Dlaronni Terrell, 24, of 15 Mother Gaston, Brooklyn, was apprehended while attempting to the flee the scene and placed under arrest. Detectives broadcasted a notification for the outstanding suspects. 
 
Members of the NCPD Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team (CIRRT) observed Defendant Uriah Wiggins, 23, of 757 East 103 Street, Brooklyn, running along the Cross Island Parkway service road and was placed him under arrest without further incident. Members of the NYPD observed Defendant Barrett Hughes, 29, of 872 Williams Avenue, Brooklyn, near the intersection of 247th Avenue and 87th Avenue in Queens and detectives responded to the scene, placing defendant Hughes into custody without further incident. The investigation is ongoing. 
 
Defendant Dlaronni Terrell is being charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest and multiple Vehicle Traffic Law infractions. Defendant Uriah Wiggins is being charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Resisting Arrest.  Defendant Barrett Hughes is being charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. All three defendants will be arraigned on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
Defendant Dlaronni Terrell was previously arrested on May 25th, 2023 and released without bail for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
  
Defendant Barrett Hughes was previously arrested on July 26th, 2023 and released without bail for an incident that occurred on July 16, 2023 where he was charged with Burglary 1st Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree, Harassment 2nd Degree, Trespass 2nd Degree, Trespass 3rd Degree, Menacing 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespassing 2nd Degree and Menacing 2nd Degree.
