Fans and Friends to Gather to Honor The Ramones Today

Lido Beach, NY - July 16, 2014 - Nassau County Legislator Dennis Dunne, Sr. will joins fans and friends as they host a candlelight vigil and Memorial Tribute to Tommy Ramone and his band, the Ramones, who fired up audiences around the world for generations with their sound and lyrics, and were named to Rolling Stone magazine's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time," after thousands of rocking performances over more than two decades. 
 
Tommy Ramone, 65, who died last week, was the last survivor of the four member band who played at the beach hot spot dozens of times, entertaining thousands of Long Islanders with peppy numbers like "Blitzkrieg Bop," and "Rockaway Beach."
 
The Candlelight Vigil and Memorial Tribute will take place at their former concert hall, Malibu Beach Club. It will be open to friends, fans and family to pray their respects. A live musical performance will take place at noon today . As the birthplace for alternative rock music here on Long Island, Malibu became a home for the Ramones.
