SCPD are investigating a vehicle crash that killed three people in Amityville.

Amityville, NY - July 9, 2018 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed three people in the Village of Amityville on Sunday, July 8, 2018.
 
Alex Demetrius was driving a 2003 BMW X5 eastbound on Oak Street when his vehicle entered the westbound lane and struck a westbound 2017 Toyota Corolla, just east of Bayview Avenue, at approximately 12:35 a.m. Demetrius, 27, of Nesconset, and the driver of the Toyota, Joseph Cloonan, 65, and Cloonan’s son and only passenger, John Cloonan, 34, both of Staten Island, were pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
