Bus Company Employee Struck by Minibus

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a crash during which a bus company employee was struck by a minibus in East Northport this morning.

The bus company employee who was struck was airlifted to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

East Northport, NY - July 5, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a crash during which a bus company employee was struck by a minibus in East Northport this morning.

Joanne Fuller-Astarita, an employee of Baumann and Sons Buses, located at 24 Railroad Ave., was walking in the driveway of the business when she was struck by a minibus turning into the location at approximately 10:15 a.m.

Fuller-Astarita, 57, of East Northport, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the minibus, Robert Heartland, 61, of Huntington Station, was not injured.

The minibus was inspected at the scene by officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section. The investigation is continuing.
