New Hyde Park, NY - July 5, 2016 - Third Precinct police officers report the arrest of a Floral Park man for driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle (Leandra’s Law) that occurred in New Hyde Park on Monday, 07/04/16 at 9:10 P.M.
According to police, Hardikkumar Patel, 31, of Floral Park, while operating a 2002 Honda was involved in an auto accident with a 2010 Chevrolet on Jericho Tpke./New Hyde Park Rd. Subsequent investigation revealed that the defendant was operating his vehicle while intoxicated with his one-year-old son in the car. The child was released at the scene to a family member.
No injuries were reported.
Patel is being charged with Aggravated Driving Intox (Child 15), Endangering Welfare of Child, DWI, and will be arraigned on Tuesday, 07/05/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.
